Templates

An application can start from something already built: a template from the catalog, or a file exported from somewhere else. Open Templates in the top bar, or From a template on the home page.

Using a template

  • The Built-in tab brings twelve: Project management, Help desk, Nonconformance report, Line stops, Purchase requests, Time off and leave, Sales CRM, Preventive maintenance, Sales and inventory, Recruiting, Document control and Inspections and audits. Those others share are under Shared.
  • Each card says what it brings: entities, pages by type, transitions, automations and example records.
  • Use template asks for the new application's name and whether to include the example records. Their dates count from today.
  • The application is yours and stands on its own: change any of it, and if the template changes or is withdrawn, your application doesn't.

People

People don't travel with a template or a file:

  • A user or group a transition, an approval or a notice named becomes whoever makes the application. Once it's made, a notice says where, to choose again who each one is for.
  • A user field stops being limited to a group.
  • In records, only whoever exported them becomes whoever imports them; the other users are left out.

Data sources don't travel either: what an automation sent to a web API is taken out, and the same notice names it.

Export and import

  • In an application, Export downloads a file with its entities, pages, transitions and automations, and its records when you ask (up to 500). What's archived stays behind.
  • In Templates, Import file makes the application again, to move it from testing to production, say.
  • All of it is made, or nothing: if something doesn't hold up, no half application is left and the error names the part that failed.
  • Files don't travel. Formulas and folios are worked out again in the new application.

Share as template

  • An application's owner shares it with Share as template: a name, a description and whether to include its records as examples. It's shared as it is at that moment.
  • My templates lists the ones you shared, how many times each was used and Who used it.
  • Withdraw takes one out of the catalog; Share again brings it back. The ones that come included aren't withdrawn.
