Gantt

A Gantt is a page that draws an entity's records as bars, from their start date to their end date, along a timeline. It shows days, weeks or months; a line marks today.

What makes it

  • Start date — a date or date and time field, or a system field such as Created at.
  • End date — optional, of the same type as the start. Without one, or when a record starts and ends the same day, it's drawn as a milestone: a diamond.
  • Rows go by — optional. Parent record gathers each record under the record it sits under, such as a project with its tasks; a choice, user or relation field gathers the rows by its value. Each group has a bar from the first start to the last end of its records, and folds with its arrow.
  • Color by — optional, an option or the state; the legend names each color.
  • Progress — optional, a number from 0 to 100 that fills the bar.
  • Records open in and Filters — as in a calendar; Me is whoever looks at the Gantt.

Moving and stretching

  • Whoever can edit records drags a bar to change its dates, or its right edge to change only its end.
  • With the keyboard: the arrows move the bar a day; with Shift they change its end.
  • A Gantt by a system field is read only.

Dependencies

  • When the entity takes links, each bar has a dot on its right; drag it onto another bar to say that one follows the first. It's the Comes before link, the same one each record shows.
  • An arrow joins each record to the one that follows it. It turns red when the one that follows starts before the other ends; the Gantt warns, it doesn't prevent it.

Good to know

  • It draws up to 500 records; with more, a notice asks to filter it.
  • Moving a record doesn't shift the ones that follow it.
