A dashboard is an application page made of widgets: each one measures an
entity's records and shows it as a number or a chart. The numbers are worked out
over every record, however many there are.

Widgets
Indicator — a single number, like the total sold or how many orders are
still open.
Bars — one measure per group, or up to three side by side on the same
axis.
Line — a measure across the groups, best for dates by day, week, month or
year; up to three measures.
Radar — an axis per group, with up to three measures as outlines.
Pie and donut — each group's share of the whole; the donut shows the
total in its middle. Past six groups, the smallest gather into Other when
the measure is a count or a sum.
Polar area — wedges of the same width that grow with their value: one
twice as big looks twice as big.
Scatter — a dot per record by two number fields, colored by a field when
one is chosen; three colors at most and the rest in gray. Up to 500 records
are drawn.
What a widget measures
Measures — count records, or the sum, average, minimum or maximum of a
number, a unit of measurement or a number formula. A record without the number
doesn't count toward the average, minimum or maximum.
Group by — an option, a checkbox, a related record, a user, the state or
who created or changed the record; a date groups by day, week (from Monday),
month or year, in the application's time zone. Records without a value make
the No value group.
Filters — the same as tables'; Me is whoever looks at the dashboard,
so one dashboard shows each person their own.
Spans two columns — the widget stretches across the dashboard.
Each chart has Show table with its numbers, and hovering, or focusing with
the keyboard, a bar, a dot or a wedge shows its value.
Good to know
A widget measures one entity, the dashboard's.
Fields holding many values, and a dialog's fields, don't group.
A widget whose fields are gone says it couldn't be measured; it's fixed in the
dashboard's settings.
