A form can change as it's filled in: show a field only when it's needed, adjust a list by another, or check that a date makes sense next to another. It's all set in the field's properties, without coding.
In Show this field only when pick another field and, if you like, in Equals the value that makes it show. "Specify the method", say, shows only when the shipping method is "Other". With Equals left empty, it shows as soon as the other field has any value.
A hidden field isn't asked for, even if it's required.
In a select field, Depends on makes its options change by what was picked in another: pick the country and then, under Options for each value, each country's options. While the first one is empty, the second waits.
In Must be compared with pick another field and the Comparison: greater, less, equal... That way the delivery date can't be before the shipping date, or a maximum can't be below the minimum.
Change the country, the shipping method and the dates:
Beside a relation, a text, number or date field can copy a value from the chosen record, like the product's price on a sales line. In Default from the record chosen in pick the relation and then the field to copy.
The value is copied when the record is picked, and can be changed by hand. If someone already typed something, it's kept. A saved record keeps its value until another record is picked.
A field can also look its data up in another system, like an employee's name from their number. See data sources.
