Dialog field
A list of rows inside the record, each with its own fields: the lines of an
order, a customer's contacts, the parts of a repair. The rows show as a table,
and each one is added or edited in a separate window with + Add entry.
Setting it up
- Label and Required, as in any field.
- The fields of each row: add them inside the dialog in the builder, as in
any form. A dialog can have another dialog inside.
- Presentation: how each row opens. Offcanvas slides in from an edge and
keeps the table in sight beside it, better for rows with many fields.
Modal is a window in the middle, fine for short rows.
- Position: for the offcanvas, which edge it comes from: right, left, top or
bottom.
- Size: for the modal, small, medium or large.
- Columns in the entries table: which fields show in the table, so it
doesn't get too wide. Each row still asks for all its fields.
With relations and formulas
A relation inside the dialog lets each row pick its
record, like the product of each line of an order. The table and the history
show the record's name.
A formula on the form can sum up the rows:
SUM([lines].[quantity]), COUNT([lines]), or their products' price with
SUM([lines].[product].[price]). A formula inside the dialog is worked out on
each row, like [quantity] * [product].[price].
Try it
Good to know
- Removing a row asks you to confirm first.
- Each row checks its fields like a form does: the required ones, formats,
ranges and files.
- A dialog inside another dialog can't have relations, and no dialog can have
user fields, system fields or folios.
