Barcode field

Shows a barcode or a QR code made from the record's data, ready to print or scan: a part's lot, an asset's number, a link to a file.

Setting it up

• Label and Help text, as in any field.
• Symbology: the kind of code. The one-line (1D) ones are Code 128, GS1-128, Code 39, EAN-13, UPC-A and Interleaved 2 of 5; the two-dimensional (2D) ones are QR Code, Data Matrix, PDF417 and Aztec Code. Pick one your scanner reads; when in doubt, Code 128 or QR work with almost any.
• Expression: what text the code holds. It's written like a formula, say [lot] & [serial], with the same buttons to insert fields and functions.

Each symbology has its rules: EAN-13 and UPC-A, for one, only take a set number of digits. If the text doesn't fit, the field shows a warning instead of the code.
